Traditional Chinese Medicine

In China, Doctors have practiced this form of medicine for over 3,500 years. Today it continues to evolve as Western Medicine is incorporated into this ancient system. Hospitals in China employ both Traditional Eastern Techniques with Modern Western Techniques for effective complementary treatment of patients. It has also spread throughout the world and continues to gain popularity in many Western countries.

Body, Mind & Spirit are integrally connected and affected by our external environment. TCM aims to balance the whole system, not just an isolated part of our body And seeks wellness and harmony for health.

How does it work

TCM practitioners use various practices to balance Qi (say “chee”), an energy that flows along pathways in the body called meridians. Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners look at the balance of body, mind, and spirit to determine how to restore good health.

In this belief, if the flow of Qi along these meridians is blocked or unbalanced, illness can occur. Causes of Qi imbalances:

  • External forces, such as wind, cold, or heat.
  • Internal forces, such as emotions of joy, anger, or fear.
  • Lifestyle factors, such as poor diet, too little sleep, overconsumption or unhelpful habits.
